The Beginning - a rough start

August 8th 2011 - Initial meeting.

We have chosen to build with Fairhaven.  Their discount of $20000 and the free colorbond roof offered on the Fairhaven range has proven too hard to resist; their homes are definitely budget friendly.

Our first meeting went well and we paid our deposit of $1000, provided them with a copy of our land title/contracts and even had a copy of an engineering report already carried out on the property. After all this we still walked out feeling like we didn't have all the information; surprise, surprise, we DIDN'T have all the information!  The next 4 weeks were quite stress-filled as we covered the same ground several times over and at the end of this time we supplied with an excel spreadsheet listing all the standard inclusions... almost! Our names were spelled incorrectly, the street name was wrong and our kitchen appliances had all been downgraded.  We were later to discover we should have been provided a products guide, an electrical plan and we should have been walked through all the extras on offer.

It was about this point that I, being the proactive person I am, went over the head of my sales rep directly to the company managers; best decision I had made so far.  They immediately took over my preliminaries, corrected the mistakes, provided me  all the missing information and after some fast track decisions on which extras we wanted to include we are finally back on track...

... of course it is now October 28th 2011
